This project was completed as part of the re-use module in the PRAXXIS Design Atelier, in which we were asked to develop a façade retention re-use project of Hulme Library. The proposed design addressed the users living in that area and aimed to create a building which can accommodate every resident of Hulme, thus forming a stronger community by introducing intersectional and feminist values. The building programme consisted of low-cost rent-able shops and office spaces to promote young professionals, flexible food spaces for encouraging multicultural exchanges, an LGBTQ* safe-space that is missing in the area and a nursery to help young parents.
