Project Kagiso
Project Kagiso is part of an initiative organised by the University of Nottingham Department for Architecture and Built Environment for second-year students to create better learning environments for nursery school children in a remote area of South Africa. Over Easter 2015 the 24 students involved in the project along with tutors travelled to South Africa in two phases to build our design. I went into this project with very limited ideas on what it meant to see a design through to a functioning building and even less idea about actually constructing it. By the end, I had an understanding on how to design in a team for several months and create a finished project which was not only imaginative architecturally but also could be built from the information we provided with our final submission.
